Ms. lynch's english language arts (ELA) Class
*Scroll down for homework!*
Welcome to room 232! This year in ELA, students will be improving and advancing their reading, writing, language, and speaking and listening skills. We will be reading the novels Out of the Dust and Homeless Bird, as well as various short stories, poems, and articles. Each of our trimester-long units is driven by an enduring understanding that enhances the social, emotional, and academic experience within our class. Students will be expected to follow BARK and STAR behavior in the classroom, which is explained in the class syllabus below. In short, we want you to work hard and be nice! This is my 13th year teaching at RMS and my 12th year in sixth grade. Before teaching, I worked in publishing, marketing, and news reporting. I went to college at Northern Illinois University, where I graduated with a degree in English and minors in Art and Theater. Later, I earned my Master's degree in teaching from Trinity International University. My hobbies include: reading, writing, painting, drawing, sewing, yoga, making jewelry, spending time in nature, and visiting with friends and family. I love cats, especially black cats! My favorite color is purple, and I am fascinated by dragonflies. Finally, some of my favorite children's books include: The Hunger Games, The Graveyard Book, A Wrinkle in Time, and Bud, Not Buddy.
